FAQ

Good questions. Straight answers.

Everything worth knowing about BuddyList before your six closest friends are one tap away.

Is BuddyList free?

Yes — BuddyList is free to download on the App Store. The whole point is getting your closest friends on it, so there's nothing standing in the way.

Why only six buddies?

Because closeness beats clout. Six slots keeps your list to the people you'd actually call. Want to add someone new? You swap someone out — a small, honest decision that keeps the list real.

Do my friends need the app too?

Yes. BuddyList is about mutual presence — you see when they're free, they see when you are. Adding a buddy sends them an invite, and the magic starts once they're on.

What's an away message?

It's a custom status, straight out of the AIM playbook. “brb walking the dog,” “heads-down, text only.” You pick the words and the color; your buddies see it next to your name. It's a status with personality, not a post for strangers.

How do calls work?

When a buddy is online, one tap starts a FaceTime or a regular call. You can also send a quick IM first. No new calling account, no separate number — it uses what your iPhone already has.

Is there a feed or algorithm?

No. There's no feed, no likes, no follower count, and nothing ranking your friends. BuddyList only shows your buddy list and who's around. That's the entire app.

What about my privacy?

Only your six buddies can see your presence and away message — there's no public profile to stumble onto. You choose your screen name, and you choose who's on your list.

What platforms is it on?

BuddyList is on iPhone today, built for iOS with native FaceTime and calling. Tap Download on the App Store to get started.
